SHAH ALAM, August 26, 2023 – What should have been a joyous occasion for an entire family, celebrating a father’s triumphant moment at a convocation ceremony, was marred by sorrow when the recipient of a mechanical engineering certificate from Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PSA) tragically died due to a lung haemorrhage last Tuesday.

PSA’s Corporate Communications Unit revealed that the late Mohd Rozahar Mohd Nor, 50, had held the position of senior production assistant at Elektrisola (M) Sdn Bhd.

Despite his responsibilities, he was determined to continue his education and pursued a certificate-level course through the polytechnic’s lifelong learning programme.

In a poignant gesture, Rozahar’s eldest son, Alif Alimi Ashraf, aged 22, accepted the certificate on his father’s behalf.

The solemn ceremony, hosted at the Al Jazari Hall, Polytechnic and Community College Education Department deputy director-general (Planning) Muhamad Rumzi Mamat, presented the certificate during the 24th PSA Convocation Ceremony today.

Alif Alimi Ashraf shared that his father had nurtured a long-held aspiration for higher education, a dream that was temporarily deferred due to the demands of work and the responsibilities of family life.

“Dad approached his studies with enthusiasm and a deep commitment.

“Every weekend, he would commute tirelessly between PSA and our home in Janda Baik, Pahang,” he said, accompanied by his younger sister, Alissa Atasha,19, herself a polytechnic student at Politeknik Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan.

With a sense of optimism, Alif Alimi Ashraf expressed his wish that his sister would continue their father’s educational aspirations, propelling them to greater heights.

Alif Alimi Ashraf expressed his hope that his sister would carry on their father’s dream to pursue education at a higher level.

He disclosed that he was ready to shoulder the role of the family’s torchbearer, stepping into the void left by their father’s absence.
