“Strengthening Industry Ties and Celebrating Culture: Karnival Citra Budaya 2024 Empowers TVET Graduates for a Brighter Future”

The Karnival Citra Budaya (KCB) 2024, held on September 26, 2024, at Kompleks Japerun Klebang, is an annual event organized by the Industrial and Community Collaboration Division (BKIK) and the Student Intake and Development Division (BAPP) under the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK). The carnival was hosted by Kolej Komuniti Tangga Batu in collaboration with Polytechnics and Community Colleges (POLYCC) from Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, along with several prominent industries and agencies, including a special guest from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

The main objective of this carnival was to strengthen the relationship between TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institutions and the industrial sector, while also enhancing graduate employability whereby it was aligns with the mission of POLYCC, which comprises 36 polytechnics and 106 community colleges across the country. With high graduate employability rates — 97.1% for polytechnic graduates and 98% for community college graduates—the program has proven effective in producing students who meet the needs of various industries.

The KCB also provided a platform for students to gain up-to-date information on career opportunities and industrial training through various activities such as industry dialogue sessions, career exhibitions, open interviews, and recruitment promotions by POLYCC institutions. Additionally, cultural performances, including gamelan, traditional dances, cultural singing, and a traditional costume showcase, were held to highlight the beauty of Malaysian arts and heritage.

The carnival saw participation from more than 500 final-year students from POLYCC Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, 300 high school students from the Melaka Tengah area, and 200 lecturers and staff from POLYCC, who acted as the organizing committee. Furthermore, 15 industries participated in the career exhibitions and open interviews, providing students with the opportunity to engage with the working world.

Key activities included industry and alumni dialogue sessions, offering students valuable insights and experiences from successful alumni across various fields. Notable alumni, such as Aiman Syahmi and Sayang Norashikin, who have become successful entrepreneurs with multi-million ringgit businesses, shared their success stories during the alumni talk session.

The closing ceremony of Karnival Citra Budaya 2024 was officiated by Ts. Abdul Razak Sabtu, Senior Director (Competency), representing the Director General of Polytechnic and Community College Education (KPPK). The event concluded with a symbolic handover of collaboration documents between TVET institutions and industries, reflecting the long-term commitment to continue these strategic partnerships. The carnival not only successfully strengthened the relationship between educational institutions and industries but also showcased the beauty of Malaysian culture through captivating performances.
